Tracy Performing Arts Foundation is a nonprofit 501c (3) founded by Evelyn Tolbert. Today Evelyn is retired from the board, but continues to serve as an adviser to the Tracy Performing Arts Board of Directors, and the Board’s Executive Committee (Melyssa Barrett, President; Jack Elliott , Treasurer and Executive Director; Nan Pinarcik, Secretary and Laura Serone Vice President.)
In just a few years, Tracy Performing Arts Foundation has become the most inclusive entity for the Performing Arts in Tracy . TPAF’s programs include our Theatrical Division’s Bistro Live Series; Children’s Summer Camp (Educational outreach to youth); Tracy ’s Next Producer Director (Film and Video); Encore (A juried competition for those proficient in playing musical instruments); Star Quest (Vocal talent competition); Show Us What You’ve Got! (Dance talent competition) and the Tracy Community Choir (our mass choir, plus the Twelve Tones and 9 Notes Aca’ Pella groups.)
The mission of The Performing Arts Foundation is to preserve and promote the Performing Arts in Tracy and the surrounding communities. Annually TPAF sponsors the production of Tracy, Our Town, USA which tells the colorful and eclectic history of Tracy ’s founders, early citizens and historical leaders who solidified Tracy ’s legacy at the Gateway to the Central Valley and to the Bay Area.
Since 2004, TPAF has garnered local and regional acclaim for bringing innovative events and celebrities to Tracy and since 2007 to the Grand Theatre, Center for the Arts. In 2008 TPAF proudly presented “A Conversation with Carol Channing” which brought out nearly 200 patrons out during a weeknight – when scheduling prevented limited advanced notice.
During the Grand Opening of the Grand Theatre, Center for the Arts, TPAF’s production of “ Tracy , Our Town, USA – Getting Ready for the Grand” sold 449 tickets for its 4 performances in the Studio Theatre. Thereby, positioning TPAF to have held the first “Sell Out” performance’s in the Black Box Studio’s 110-seat theatre.
TPAF’s 2008 production of “Steel Magnolias” sold 243 seats in the Studio Theatre. TPAF sold 205 tickets to the production of “The Secret Garden” and 316 seats for “The Glass Slipper.” The first annual production of the Stellar Awards* resulted in 166 tickets sales.
Since the opening of the Grand, TPAF’s Tracy Community Choir has sold over 915 seats for their semi-annual concerts. Our “Star Quest”, “Show Us What You’ve Got!”, “Encore” and “Tracy Next’s Producer Director” performances sold 418 tickets. All and all, in just over two years TPAF was responsible for over 2,712 seats being sold in the Studio and EKT Theatres. These ticket sales enable TPAF to launch our advent guard series known as the “Bistro Live Series” which sold 581 tickets for its inaugural series. All and all TPAF has sold 3,293 tickets to date.
Statistically 1 out of every 10 tickets sold at the Grand has been for a TPAF event. This includes outside rentals such as Kathy Griffin, Lin
