Kalani Schreiner

Kalani was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. In high school, he got involved in Drama and Community Theatre and enjoyed many different aspects of theatre including managing lights, stage, acting and dancing. He acted in Westside Story and then directed the show more than 5 times. After high school, he became a priest and was transferred to San Francisco in 1977.
In 1985, he became a Deputy Sheriff in Contra Costa working in Richmond for more than 18 years including working as a juvenile detective. Retired from the Sheriff’s department, he went back into respiratory care. Currently, he works at Sutter Tracy Hospital for the past 10 years as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and teaches smoking cessation classes.
Kalani remains active with Tracy’s Next Producer Director scholarship program which allows students to participate in creating film. He is an enthusiastic photographer although occasionally you can find him on stage (The Sunshine Boys, Tracy Our Town USA) acting as he has participated in numerous plays and musicals singing high tenor.
He is a great husband and happily married to Tomara for the last 21 years living in Tracy for 18 of those years. They have two children Kimo and Kaleo. He is the resident photographer for Kimball High School and he also enjoys scuba diving.
