Margie Forehand has been a resident of Tracy for 21 years.
She is a graduate of San Francisco State University where she majored in Home Economics and minored in African American Studies. She is a retired Educator from the Diocese of Oakland where I was a teacher for 25 years.
Her theatre experience has spanned over a period of 35 years. As a costume bank coordinator and designer for Grassroots Experience Theatre Company in San Francisco, she was introduced to the talented Danny Glover, Adela Azekiwe, Barry Shabaka Henley, Denzel Washington and many more present day silver screen actors. It was an exciting and educational time in her life.
Her costume experience expanded to historical productions such as African American History productions. Asian American Celebrations such as Chinese New Years’ were always an exciting time to make costumes and learn the techniques used in the construction of those types of garments.
She continues to design and construct costumes as well as everyday traditional clothing for men, women and children. She is an entrepreneur managing a company called, Spirit of the Drum where she specializes in Afro-centric garments, table linens, African wedding brooms, favors and custom garments.
She continues to work within the theatre community, including an occasional on-stage performance.
Tracy Performing Arts Foundation affords me the opportunity to stay connected and in tune with what is going on, on stage.
